Former Pittsburgh Penguins' forward Derick Brassard has retired from the NHL after 16 seasons. PITTSBURGH – The Pittsburgh Penguins will see another member enshrined in the Hockey Hall of Fame. The Hall announced that Penguins amateur scout Krissy Wendell-Pohl will be inducted as part of the 2024 class. A scout with the team since 2021, Wendell-Pohl will be the first woman to enter the Hall of Fame with a connection to the Penguins organization. “Krissy is an admired by her peers and colleagues across hockey,” Penguins president Kyle Dubas said. “Her resume as a player, coach and executive speaks for itself and we would like to congratulate her on this much-deserved recognition of her talent and influence on the sport of hockey.” As a player, Wendell-Pohl represented the United States at the Olympics twice. She won a silver medal in 2002 and a bronze in 2006. She was also part of the 2005 U.S. Women’s team that won gold at the IIHF World Women’s Championship. When Wendell-Pohl joined the Penguins, she became just the third woman to ever hold a scouting position with an NHL team. Hockey is not the first Hall of Fame Wendell-Pohl has been inducted into. In 2019, she was inducted into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame. Growing up as a multi-sport athlete, she also participated in the Little League World Series in 1994. Her role in 1994 earned her a spot in the Little League Hall of Excellence.
