Pittsburgh Penguins' center Sidney Crosby discusses how the Penguins will get the power play on the same page going forward. The Pittsburgh Penguins entered this current training camp with numerous battles for positions all over the lineup. Over the last week and a half or so, the Penguins have trimmed their camp roster down from 58 to 37; five of which are on the injured list. Despite the shrinking roster, there are still a few battles taking place for positioning on the depth chart. After a year away from the team, Radim Zohorna has impressed at camp and head coach Mike Sullivan has said he is right in the middle of the competition. Alex Nylander is in a similar position in fighting tooth and nail to be a regular face on the NHL roster. Both young forwards have had good camps, but their competition is still around; Vinnie Hinostroza and Andreas Johnsson are among the forwards still in the fight. With Mark Pysyk being among the names on the injured list, it will be interesting to see if someone else steps up as the leader for the third defensive pairing. Does Chad Ruhwedel maintain his role? Or can Mark Friedman show up in a big way down the stretch? Lines are starting to come together and there could be some more surprises right around the corner. Kyle Dubas said before he wouldn’t be afraid to utilize waivers to create some flexibility, and he proved that already. Ty Smith was fighting for a role on the defensive pairs, but was sent to the AHL after clearing waivers, same goes for Rem Pitlick. The Penguins are slowly getting to their opening night roster, but the decision making from here on out won’t be easy for anyone.
