Growth Spurt: "We were so disappointed about the year before that I think everyone came in hungry. Then you see Ron and Rick (GM Ron Francis, Ass't. GM Ricky Olczyk) do those moves too. It kind of brings a little extra fire.

"And we got some internal players that came back, which was huge, too. It was like we got almost five, six new forwards. So it was almost a completely different team in a way.

"We had to grow, and after last year, we were well aware of what went wrong and what we can do better. The coaches and everyone kind of grew together this year. You can tell right from training camp moving forward, we took steps in a lot of areas.

"I don't think people expected us to do what we did this year, but at the same time, it's coming back to next year. Everyone starts from square one again. So as much as we want to feel good about this one, it doesn't really mean much at the end of the road, so just need to come back and be even more prepared.

"You can't really shut off completely. First, a little bit of rest. Then just get back in the gym again. The older I get, the less time I off (I should have). I'll take a couple of weeks here, and then get up and up and going again.

"Next year we get Burky (winger Andre Burakovsky) back at full strength, too. So it's promising to know that so much of this team should be back next year."
