Seattle 0, Winnipeg 0 After 20 Minutes
Off the rush, Matty Beniers feeds Tomas Tatar flying down the left wing. Tatar's shot beats Brossoit but hits the crossbar.
Winnipeg gets its first good looks. Josh Morrissey just misses a redirect, then Daccord makes his best save on Mark Scheifele. Later, he fights off Brendan Dillon's high, hard drive.
Seattle will play the rest of the game with forward Jaden Schwartz, out with an upper-body injury. He played just 3:09 of the 1st period.
The 2nd period is over. You know what they say about, "Take a friend to one in-person hockey game and they'll fall in love with the sport"? That's absolutely true - except maybe for this game.
Goals remain zero-zero. Shots were 9-4 Jets in the period, 18-12 after two periods. Faceoffs are 50% each. Hits are even, too - 14-13 Jets. Seattle leads in shot attempts, 35-30.
Since it's Women In Hockey Night at CPA, and not much has been going on between the Kraken and Jets, what say we check in on the PWHL.
Now let's see if the men can match that in the 3rd period.
Daccord keeps his blocker tight against the post. Good thing, too, because Morrissey fires right into the equipment.
We have a goal. Scheifele works his way behind the Seattle defense, takes a pass, and puts the lead goal behind Daccord. 1-0 'Peg at 7:15 on the center's 19th goal.
A Tanev has scored tonight, too. Unfortunately, it's new Dallas Star Chris Tanev, Brendan's brother.
A partial breakaway for Andre Burakovsky, who scored the game-winning power play goal in Winnipeg.
Scheifele, who apparently wants to hog the 3rd period stat sheet, dives and swipes his stick at Burakovsky. All he gets is Burakovsky's skates, knocking him off balance and into a collision with goalie Brossoit, who had made a blocker save.
Scheifele is called for tripping, sending Seattle to the game's first power play. One SOG with the extra man, but no tying goal.
Seattle's hole gets doubly deep at 11:28. Adam Lowry, Winnipeg captain and son of Kraken assistant coach Dave, scores for the second consecutive game against Dad's team.
The Jets' Kyle Connor hits the post behind Daccord with 5:31 left.
Since the start of the 2nd period, shots are 22-9 Winnipeg.
