@Seattle Kraken - Hall-of-Fame Anchor Returns to her Roots, Hosts Kraken Hockey Network

The Seattle Kraken have officially launched the Kraken Hockey Network (KHN), the NHL’s newest production that will offer viewers exclusive access to Kraken games. Leading the broadcast is Linda Cohn, the National Sports Media Hall of Fame anchor from ESPN's SportsCenter with Seattle roots. Cohn is scheduled to host approximately 15 marquee KHN games on KING 5 this season.

Joining Cohn in the broadcast booth is Ian Furness, a well-known voice in Pacific Northwest sports and hockey. The Kraken Hockey Network will produce 72 exclusive Kraken preseason and regular-season games, as well as the first round of the playoffs, including pre- and post-game shows. Viewers can watch KHN on KING 5, KONG, and select TEGNA, Gray, Cox, and Morgan Murphy TV stations. The network will also stream games for free on Prime Video across Washington, Oregon, and Alaska, with additional availability through existing cable and streaming services.

The Pacific Northwest is special to Cohn; she began her career as a local sportscaster and anchor in Seattle from 1981 to 1992 before moving to ESPN, where she holds the record as the longest-tenured SportsCenter anchor. She was honored for her 5,000th episode in 2016. Cohn is an admired journalist who blends humor, fierceness, and accuracy in her reporting, and she is also an inspiration to women in sports.

Cohn's knowledge and love of hockey began at a young age, when she served as a goalie for her high school boys' hockey team and continued playing in college. “I grew up being a very shy wallflower. And that’s what was great about being a goalie—I could hide behind the mask.”

In her decades of reporting, Cohn has built a career based on mutual respect with those she interviews. She isn't afraid to ask tough questions and connects with players on a personal level. One of my favorite moments was when she interviewed the Kraken's Jared McCann and asked about his mother, who battles Multiple sclerosis. It's this level of advocacy and sensitivity that sets Cohn apart from others in the media.

Furness and Cohn will join the current Kraken broadcast including, John Forslund, JT Brown, Eddie Olczyk, Alison Lukan and Piper Shaw. Nick Olczyk recently announced his departure from the Kraken to join the Utah Hockey Club broadcast team.
