Stephen R. Sylvanie, USA TODAY Sports - Krakens' Slew Of Players At World Junior Championship A Sign Of Good Days To Come

It's that time of the year again -- time for the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship. And Seattle Kraken fans ought to be thrilled to know that eight Kraken prospects are taking part in this year's World Juniors. Let's provide readers to a breakdown of each of the eight Kraken prospects:

    CANADA

    Berkly Catton, C

Selected eighth-overall by the Kraken last summer, Catton is once again putting on a masterclass in point-getting, posting 14 goals and 47 points in only 28 games with Spokane of the Western League. The 18-year-old also generated eight goals and 20 points in five games in the Hlinka Gretzky Cup. Needless to say, Catton has skill to spare.

    Caden Price, D

The 19-year-old Price isn't at the World Juniors to overwhelm opponents with his offense, although he is a point-per-game player through 26 games with Kelowna of the WHL this season. He's a savvy defender with terrific vision, and his coaches don't need to worry about him making the wrong decision. The Kraken took Price with the 84th pick in the 2023 draft, and Seattle management is very happy with his development.

    Carson Rehkopf, LW

The 19-year-old Rehkopf made Canada's 2024 World Junior team and now, in 2025, he'll be looked to for offense and a physical-minded approach. The Kraken took Rehkopf 50th-overall in the 2023 draft, and in 27 games with Brampton of the Ontario League this season, Rehkopf has put up 27 assists and 47 points. He's a confident winger who can dish off the puck for assists or finish scoring plays himself.

    CZECHIA

    Jakub Fibigr, D

Fibigr was a late pick for the Kraken last summer  -- he was picked in the seventh round, 202nd-overall -- but he earned a spot on the Czech roster with strong play the past two seasons for the Mississauga/Brampton Steelheads of the OHL. The 18-year-old is a strong skater and he can chip in some offense.as well. He's come a long ways, and the Czechs will be looking to him for smart decisions and some physicality.

    Eduard Sale, RW

Selected 20th-overall in 2023, Sale is playing in his third World Juniors. He's also a 19-year-old who's been playing with Coachella Valley of the AHL, posting nine assists and 13 points in 23 games. Sale may not lead any league in points, but he's always contributing something, and that bodes well for his profesional career.

    FINLAND

    Julius Miettinen, C

Miettinen was selected 40th-overall by Seattle in 2024, making him a Kraken prospect because of his size (6-foot-4) and his tenacity. He's been more or less a point-per-game player through two seasons with Everett of the WHL, and while Miettinen isn't going to put the Finnish team on his back, he's going to get a long look from Kraken brass in the years to come.

Kim Saarinen (Goaltender | 2024 Draft: 3rd Round, 88th overall pick | current team: HPK, Liiga)

    Kim Saarinen, G

Saarinen joined the Kraken organization after they took the 18-year-old 88th-overall last summer. His 6-foot-4 frame and calm demeanor are qualities that made him an easy choice for Seattle. He may need much more seasoning before making it to the NHL level, but the Kraken are prepared to be patient with him.

    SWEDEN

    Zeb Forsfjall, C

Forsfjall is known for his checking, his speed, and his penalty killing, and what the 19-year-old lacks in size (at 5-foot-9), he makes up for with his defense-minded mentality. He done well for himself as a sixth-round pick (180th-overall) in 2023, and his long-term development should see him playing in North America sooner than later. The Kraken and Swedes need depth down the middle, and Forsfjall can help in that regard.
