Steve Mayer, NHL Chief Content Officer, wasn't the first to promise that - the quote can be traced back to 18th century France. But he sure as heck has a right to say it.

As the man in charge of special events for the league, Mayer and his team have to make sure all aspects are perfect for this year's Winter Classic on New Year's Day at T-Mobile Park.

That includes everything from making sure the Seattle Kraken and Vegas Golden Knights have an NHL-quality skating surface, to a universe of diverse elements - each one designed to alert viewers around the world that this event is taking place in the Pacific Northwest.
