The Seattle Kraken will be without energy winger Brandon Tanev for at least four weeks, with what the team will only call a "lower body" injury.

If we don't know precisely what happened to the player nicknamed "Turbo," we know exactly when it happened. Midway through the middle period of the season-opening game in Las Vegas Oct. 10, the Golden Knights' Brett Howden hit Tanev with an illegal hit to the head.

As Tanev lost his balance and fell to the ice, he apparently twisted a leg awkwardly underneath him.

“(Tanev) competes so hard for us every night,” Kraken head coach Dave Hakstol said after practice. “He brings pace and energy, he’s been a big part of our penalty kill, all of those elements.”

Hakstol smartly declined to say how he felt about the NHL Department of Player Safety issuing Howden just a two-game suspension. But listen to what the coach didn't exactly say; there's little doubt he found the punishment lighter than the infraction.

"I keep track. I know exactly the suspensions that are doled out for the different instances. I try to connect the dots, to understand why, and what the value of that is. Beyond that, it's not my call; it's the league's call."

Tanev, as noted, will be out a lot longer than two games.
