Former Sun Devil Joey Daccord May Get Start In Goal For Seattle
It appears Seattle Kraken winger Kailer Yamamoto is getting a promotion.
Yamamoto, signed in the off-season as a free agent from Edmonton, has impressed coaches with willingness to go to the net and prowess on the power play. In Monday's practice at KCI, he skated on the first line alongside Jared McCann and Matty Beniers.
That combo may get its first tryout tonight at Mullett Arena, when the Kraken begin a two-game road trip against the Arizona Coyotes.
The move is widely seen as the latest attempt to shake Beniers out of his slump, which has grown to 12 games without a goal.
Tye Kartye would slide down to the 4th line, with Pierre-Edouard Bellemare and Devin Shore. The Kraken, it's fair to point out, don't tend to speak of their forward lines with hierarchical rankings.
Kraken goalie Joey Daccord is returning to his alma mater, Arizona State University.
Mullett Arena, the temporary home of the Coyotes, also hosts the Sun Devils' NCAA Division I hockey program. Daccord played 82 games in goal for ASU between 2016-19 - but not in the current facility, which wasn't completed until 2022.
As for the Coyotes, they're scheduled to remain at Mullett Arena until 2025 or later, while the team searches for a permanent home of their own. We discuss this and much more with Remy Mastey, THN site editor for the Coyotes, in our latest Kraken Reaction video conversation.
