Kraken Defenseman's Sharp-Angle Re-Direction Seals 2-1 Win Friday At CPA
The thunderous roar from a sellout crowd at Climate Pledge Arena Friday might have only been the second-loudest ovation directed at Kraken defenseman Justin Schultz.
At 2:35 of overtime against the Philadelphia Flyers, Schultz circled from the near left point, down the far right boards. When he reached the bottom of the right circle, he re-directed Oliver Bjorkstrand's pass in one motion past a stunned Flyers goalie Carter Hart.
A wild celebration commenced in the stands, and among players mobbing Schultz in the near left corner. It was extra sweet for the 12-year veteran, who has been shuttled in and out of coach Dave Hakstol's lineup since the emergence of rookie defenseman Ryker Evans.
(Of the Kraken's 13 games in December, Schultz has suited up for five.)
Schultz was too modest to speak about it afterward, so it was left to Hakstol to describe the raucous reception the goal-scoring hero received back in the dressing room. It's our latest Kraken Reaction video.
