2023-24 Seattle Kraken Season Begins Oct. 10 In Las Vegas

The Stanley Cup champion Vegas Golden Knights feature prominently in the two biggest games on the Seattle Kraken 2023-24 schedule.

Opening night will be October 10. The NHL thoughtfully selected the Kraken to be the visitor to watch Vegas unfurl their championship banner. On January 1, Seattle plays host to Vegas for the Winter Classic at T-Mobile Park.

Meaningless aside: Going back to last season, the Kraken and Golden Knights will have played their last three regular-season games against each other.

Meaningful aside: As these two games are high-profile events, national media will no doubt expound endlessly with expansion-team comparisons; how the Golden Knights quick success increases the pressure on the Kraken organization.

This assertion is thinly-sliced, piled high bologna. Yes, the Golden Knights admirably reached the Stanley Cup Final in their first season, and won it all in their 6th.

You know who this puts pressure on? The Toronto Maple Leafs, who have been feeling the heat since they last hoisted the Cup in - checks watch - 1967.

You know who else this puts pressure on? Those other expansion teams, the Vancouver Canucks and Buffalo Sabres, who have never won the Stanley Cup since joining the league in - checks watch again - 1970.

After the Vegas opener, the Kraken travel to Nashville and St. Louis. Seattle's home opener is Tuesday, Oct. 17 against another team you might have heard of: last year's first round playoff opponent, the Colorado Avalanche.
