Mandatory Credit: Robert Edwards-Imagn Images The Seattle Kraken have recalled Ryan Winterton from the Coachella Valley Firebirds on an emergency basis. The 21-year-old has scored 17 goals and 35 points in 53 AHL [http://thn.com/ahl] games this season, tying the point total he set in his rookie campaign. Although the Kraken were hoping for a bigger step to be taken by Winterton offensively, his all-around game has improved this season. Rejoining the NHL squad, Winterton has played eight games this season, recording one assist and averaging 10:22 of ice time. The Kraken return to action tonight to take on the Vancouver Canucks [http://thn.com/vancouver] and at the moment, the reasoning for the emergency basis call-up is unknown. If Winterton is needed, it'll be his first game back in the lineup since Dec. 17 against the Ottawa Senators [http://thn.com/ottawa] where he was a -3, with two shots on goal in 6:53 of ice time.
