ST. LOUIS -- On this date 20 years ago, July 14, 1995, the St. Louis Blues changed the landscape of their goaltending.

Out was Curtis Joseph and in was Grant Fuhr.

The Blues signed the 32-year-old Fuhr to a free agent contract that ultimately spelled the end of Joseph's tenure in St. Louis; the 27-year-old was traded to the Edmonton Oilers along with forward Mike Grier for a 1996 and 1997 first-round draft pick.

Perhaps one of the more famous debates was the infamous play when during the playoffs against the Toronto Maple Leafs when Nick Kypreos was hit from behind by Chris Pronger and fell on Fuhr, injuring the goalie, who suffered a torn MCL in his right knee:

Fuhr would spent four seasons with the Blues and would go 108-87 with 41 ties/overtime/shootout losses in the regular season with a 2.68 goals-against average and .900 save percentage; he led the league in games (79), shots (2,157) and saves (1,948) in 1995-96; he was 15-14 with a 2.39 GAA and .912 save percentage in the playoffs.
