My player to watch for the St. Louis Blues to begin a four-game road trip on Tuesday against the Winnipeg Jets is right wing Kasperi Kapanen.
Kapanen had two assists in a 4-2 win against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday, his first two points of the season, and was really noticeable on the ice using his speed and forechecking, dogged determination, something coach Craig Berube has noticed in the Blues' 2-1-1 start to the season.
"I thought Kapanen played a strong game, some good things, could have had a couple (goals) himself," Berube said after the game Saturday. "Right from camp, he's been skating real well and attacking. He showed it [Saturday] in the game, real solid effort."
Kapanen enters tonight's game against the Jets with nine points (five goals, four assists) in nine career matchups against Winnipeg, and should Pavel Buchnevich join him on a line with Brayden Schenn, Kapanen could very well be a factor in the offense tonight, perhaps getting on the board in the goal column.
