The Lightning will start the month of March off with a matchup against the Canadiens on Saturday night at Amalie Arena. With twenty games left in the season, it’s imperative that they grab points.

Their last two games haven’t been terrible, but they haven’t resulted in wins either. Thursday's loss to Buffalo came down to penalties, something the team usually has a grasp on.

“The penalties kind of took a little wind out of our sails,” Jon Cooper said of the loss to Buffalo.

The Lightning have a stretch of three games that they should be able to push into the win column before they face the Rangers, Panthers, and Golden Knights. We've seen the Lightning play up to their competition many times this season, but the points window closes a little more each week. There's little to no room for error. Overall Jon Cooper notes their ability to defend as a key difference maker as of late in their last eight games.

"We're not beating ourselves and we're not giving up very much. Hence the lower scoring games. I mean, we gave up two against the Islanders, one against Jersey, and basically two against Buffalo in regulation."

As for Montreal, they’ve given up four or more goals in six of their last nine games and are averaging 2.9 goals in their last 10. They snagged a win against Arizona, ending a five-game losing streak but lost their next game in a shootout to Florida, 4-3. Regardless, they're not a team to ignore.

This will be the third time these two teams meet this season. The Lightning won 4-3 last time they saw each other on New Year’s Eve. Should be a fun one! Puck drop is at 7pm.
