The Lightning end their back-to-back with a matchup against the Red Wings.

It’s a Tampa Bay Takeover today in Detroit with the Lightning and Bucs coming into town. The Lightning are coming off a 3-1 win in Buffalo yesterday, giving them their fifth straight. They are currently sitting in third place in the Atlantic with 53 points in 46 games. The Red Wings are in the second wild card spot with 51 points in 45 games.

Overall the Lightning are playing with more confidence, and most importantly, they're not turning the puck over like they were earlier in the season. Their game has continued to move in the right direction. The key is to keep carrying the momentum throughout the road trip. For a team that feeds off their fans, they have to bring that Amalie energy with them on the road.

Similar to the Lightning, the Red Wings have been quietly stacking wins with some wear and tear on the roster. Their number one goalie, Ville Husso, is on injured reserve and Patrick Kane has been out of the line-up since January 14th. The team confirmed Sunday morning that Kane will not play against the Lightning.

The Bolts had a tough time in their first matchup against the Red Wings on October 14th, falling 6-4. The line of Dylan Larkin, Alex DeBrincat, and Lucas Raymond took the reins that day, combining for 20 shot attempts and 3 goals. That line has since been broken up with Larkin moving back.

The Lightning had a few slip ups defensively yesterday against the Sabres, but have been much improved. They’ll be looking to do the same on Sunday against a young, speedy Red Wings team.

Puck drop is at an adjusted time of 7:00 PM.
