The Lightning hit the road this weekend for a three-game roadtrip starting on Saturday night against the Detroit Red Wings.

The Lightning are finally back at it tonight for their second game of the season. The Bolts will take on the Detroit Red Wings, who are coming off an opening-night loss to the New Jersey Devils on Thursday night.

From an execution standpoint, the Lightning were fantastic during the first period against Nashville before falling back into old habits in the second period. Not sure what Jon Cooper said during the intermission, but the Lightning were able to pull away in the third period with a Brandon Hagel penalty shot and two power play goals from Nick Paul.

The Red Wings were strong out the gate in their season opener as well. Then a goal with under five minutes left to play put the Devils up for good.

Tonight will be the Bolts first game as part of a three game road-trip before returning to Amalie Arena on Thursday.
