Mikhail Sergachev was leading the team in blocked shots with 69 total this season before leaving the game early against the St. Louis Blues. A blocked shot is what sent him down the tunnel in pain. He came back to the bench briefly, but eventually departed again with a lower body injury.
On Wednesday, he was absent from practice but had a boot on his left leg and a scooter to prevent any weight from being put on his foot. Thursday he sat as the Lightning faced the Vegas Golden Knights.
On Saturday, Erik Erlendsson reported that Sergachev had been placed on IR, although it wasn't announced. He is eligible to return when the Lightning host the Panthers on Wednesday night after the holiday break.
With the team announcing Sunday morning that Sean Day was reassigned to the Syracuse Crunch, it is likely that Sergachev will indeed return soon.
