PITTSBURGH — The Toronto Maple Leafs lineup for their game against the Pittsburgh Penguins is riddled with unknowns.
As Maple Leafs defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson and forwards Max Domi and Steve Lorentz missed practice on Saturday, Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube confirmed the club has game-time decisions on those players and a determination on their status will be made after the warmup.
Ekman-Larsson and Lorentz were seen at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex riding the bike as the rest of the team practices. Domi was at the venue, but not on bikes.
The Maple Leafs are already without Chris Tanev, who will miss the club's additional two games due to an upper-body injury. If Ekman-Larsson can't go, Marshall Rifai would likey skate in his place.
The Leafs shuffled up their defense pairs to reflect Ekman-Larsson's absence.
Calle Jarnkork took part in the club's full skating session on Saturday. However, Berube confirmed the forward would not be in the lineup against the Penguins for their afternoon game.
Maple Leafs GM Brad Treliving confirmed on Saturday that Jarnkrok is still awaiting clearance from doctors to be activated. After sustaining an injury in training camp, Jarnkrok has yet to play a game this season. In November, Jarnkrok underwent sports hernia surgery.
