Going into the season, a big question mark surrounding the Maple Leafs was who would fill in for Mitch Marner, who was traded to the Vegas Golden Knights in July.

Easton Cowan, the Leafs top prospect who is also a right winger, is an early candidate.

Cowan, who was selected 28th overall in the 2023 Draft, was recalled by the Leafs on Oct. 13 to make his debut against the Detroit Red Wings. Head Coach Craig Berube announced Cowan would slot in on the first line, with Auston Matthews and Matthew Knies.

His debut was nothing short of impressive.  While on the ice, Toronto dominated in shot attempts (19-6) and shots on goal (11-1). Cowan's strong performance that earned him compliments from his teammates.

"I thought he was great," said Matthews.

Cowan's debut showed promise, and his next chance to showcase his skills will be in tonight's home game against the Nashville Predators.

Do you think Cowan can blossom Toronto's next offensive star?
