The Maple Leafs are off to a tough start, as they sit dead last in the Atlantic Division with a 5-5-1 record. With the team in desperate need of someone to step up, and rookie Easton Cowan did tonight, notching his first career NHL goal.
Just over 30 seconds into the third period, Maple Leafs forward stole the puck from Flyers defenceman Jamie Drysdale. While off balance, he spun around and delivered a pass to Cowan in the slot. With an open shooting lane, Cowan beat Dan Vladar stick side with a beautiful wrist shot.
Through nine career games, Cowan has a goal and three assists.
Is Cowan the next star in the making?
