When Ryan Reaves joined the Toronto Maple Leafs last season, he promised to be a loud presence—someone who can get a group of people together. "I'm pretty loud, it's not going to be a quite room anymore, I'll tell you that much,"Reaves said over a year ago at the team's charity golf tournament. "Anytime you can get the boys out for some golf and a couple of beers and maybe some poker, we're gonna play some Derby Days today, you can look that up," Reaves said. "But yeah, it's just a good time, just a good way to bond and get to know the new guys and kinda get the team together after a long summer and before the real grind starts.: So we looked it up. It's a bit of a complicated game that involves horses, dice and a deck of cards with the aces, kings and jokers removed. "I just fell in love with it...It's electric," Reaves said. "Ask Johnny (Tavares) about it. I don't think I've ever seen Johnny light up more than last year when we played this. Johnny's obviously, he comes out of his shell once in a while, but he lost his shell when he saw that game. He loved it." At first, I didn't know what was going on, but then it was pretty fun," he said. When asked if the game got Tavares to come out of his shell, Nylander couldn't recall.
