After another disappointing Toronto Maple Leafs playoff loss, it's time to break up the core four forwards and that might mean moving on from Mitch Marner, who becomes a free agent at the end of the 2024-25 season. LAS VEGAS — The NHL has officially released the order of selection ahead of the 2024 NHL Draft and the Maple Leafs will begin their selection process with the 23rd overall pick. That is, of course, if the Maple Leafs don't trade away their first-round pick. It's expected to be a wild NHL Draft with the free agency falling just two days after the final day of selections. It's been reported that the Maple Leafs would be open to moving the first-round pick and that it was on the table when attempting to land former Calgary Flames goaltender Jacob Markstrom. After the first-round pick, the Maple Leafs will have to wait until the fourth round after dealing away their second and third-round selections in trades. They are scheduled to pick 120th, followed by 151, 152, 157, 200 and 216. All in all, it's a total of seven picks for Toronto barring any other moves.
