William Nylander to start training camp at center, while Ryan Reaves is not shy about expressing his thoughts about anything. In fact, it was one of the reasons that Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving signed the forward to a three-year, $4.05 million contract this summer. Now into a few skates during training camp practices, Reaves has been pleasantly surprised to learn about the fact that music is played during practices in Toronto. "It’s my favorite thing, probably, since I’ve been here," Reaves said. "Unbelievable." Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe has incorporated the use of music during practice ever since he was invited to attend Seattle Seahawks training camp back in August of 2019. He noticed the NFL club using it in between instructions and has since made it a staple of all of his practices. Reaves, who is 36, does have some opinions on the type of music that is played. "Today the early music was kind of trash," Reaves said following his training camp session on Friday. "The EDM during practice isn’t it." What music would Reaves prefer? "Hip Hop. If you’re going to put EDM you need a light show. Some smoke machines." He has described himself as loud and doesn't shy away from letting his personality be known. Time will tell if he can actually win the music battle, whether it's during practice or in the locker room.
