Dylan Guenther Named NHL's First Star Of The Week
The 21-year-old has proven to be worth every penny of the extension he signed in training camp so far.
The NHL announced Monday morning that Utah forward Dylan Guenther was named First Star of the Week.
In a press release by the Utah Hockey Club, Guenther, who signed an eight-year extension on September 20, is off to a historic start this season.
Some of the quick facts from the club about the 21-year-old include:
- Ninth player in league history to score five or more goals in each of the first three games, and the third in the 21st century, joining Tomas Hertl and Auston Matthews.
- Scored third-fastest goal to start any franchise's inaugural game (4:56).
- Fifth player to score a franchise's first goal at 21 or younger, and the eighth since the expansion era began.
- First player since 1917 to score multiple times in a franchise's first two contests and the fifth in league history.
- Sixth player since 1943 to score in franchise's first three games.
- First pair of teammates (with Barrett Hayton) to score in franchise's first three games with concurrent goal streaks.
You can see Guenther attempt to continue his historic start now as the club faces the New Jersey Devils at Prudential Center, airing on KUPX Utah 16 and the associated streaming platforms.
