The Utah Hockey Club has announced they have signed RFA forward Barrett Hayton to a two-year extension.
The extension carries an AAV of $2.65 million, which is a good-value bridge deal for the 24-year-old.
Last season, Hayton tallied three goals and seven assists for 10 points in 33 games. Unfortunately, he dealt with injuries that kept him out of the lineup for the bulk of the year.
In the 2022–23 season, he was healthy and appeared in all 82 games. In which he scored a career-high 19 goals and 24 assists for 43 points.
The organization's hope for Hayton is that he stays healthy and can match his offensive output from the 2022–23 season. Or, better yet, he can surpass his career high and move his way up the lineup.
With Utah HC relocating and the excitement surrounding the team, getting this signing done will help the team address the other needs of their team.
Hayton is the 12th forward signed on Utah’s roster, which likely means they will want to sign one other forward either before the season or to a PTO.
