Arizona Coyotes centerman Laurent Dauphin signs with HC Ambri-Piotta of the Swiss National League following his third stint in the Valley

Arizona Coyotes’ centerman Laurent Dauphin has reportedly signed a one-year contract containing a club option for a second year with HC Ambri-Piotta of the Swiss National League.

Dauphin was drafted 39th overall in the 2013 NHL Draft by the Coyotes. He made his NHL debut for the Coyotes during the 2015-16 campaign only playing eight games while managing to score one goal.

Dauphin was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks during the 2017 draft but less than a year later on Jan. 10, 2018, he was traded back to Arizona.

Through the majority of the next two seasons, Dauphin spent his time with the Tucson Roadrunners, the Coyotes’ American Hockey League affiliate until he was traded to the Nashville Predators on Feb. 8, 2019.

It was on the Montreal Canadiens during the 2021-22 season where Dauphin truly started to thrive. He played 38 games for the Canadians that year tallying four goals, eight assists and 12 points.

After Dauphin’s career year, he found his way back to the Coyotes organization signing a two-way contract with the team on July 10, 2022. This past season Dauphin played 48 games with the Roadrunners where he had 16 goals, 25 assists and 41 points. Despite his success with the Roadrunners, he played just 21 games with the Coyotes only scoring one goal.

In the Swiss League, Dauphin may have more of an opportunity to prove that he belongs in the NHL. Who knows, maybe we’ll see him right back in Arizona.
