Unfortunately for Vladislav Kolyachonok, his opportunity to show the Arizona Coyotes organization what he can do was very short lived.

The 22-year-old defenceman played his first game of the season on Saturday night against the Vegas Golden Knights but he ultimately suffered a lower-body injury, now being listed as week-to-week.

Kolyachonok was drafted in the second round of the 2019 NHL Draft by the Florida Panthers. He was traded to the Coyotes in the summer of 2021 in a deal that included Anton Strålman.

It hasn’t been an easy road for Kolyachonok as prior to this season, he only played a total of 34 games in two seasons for the Coyotes tallying one goal, two assists and three points.

Kolyachonok is one of a few Coyotes blue liners that have been listed on the injury report this season. Travis Dermott and Juuso Välimäki have both missed some time while Matt Dumba was unable to go on Saturday night due to a lower-body injury.

This is a tough break for Kolyachonok who with all these injuries was given a shot to show what he can do at the NHL level.

Time will tell whether or not Kolyachonok gets another chance with the Coyotes over the course of this year.
