Quinn Hughes will not play on Sunday against the Detroit Red Wings

The Vancouver Canucks will be without their captain on Sunday against the Detroit Red Wings. Despite taking warmups, Hughes was listed among the scratches alongside Carson Soucy and Victor Mancini. Both GM Patrik Allvin and Head Coach Rick Tocchet indicated that Hughes could miss the game, with both calling him a game-time decision.

While no details have been released about Hughes' potential injury, he did look uncomfortable on the bench during the Canucks 5-3 loss to the Dallas Stars on Friday. This injury is believed to be different from the hand injury Hughes suffered in December. That injury resulted in Hughes missing four games before returning on January 6 against the Montréal Canadiens.

Hughes is on pace for a historic season. Despite only playing 47 games, he is already up to 14 goals and leads all defensemen in the NHL in points with 59. Hughes was also selected to play in the upcoming 4 Nations Face-Off, where he is projected to play a significant role on the blue line.
