Canucks forward Kiefer Sherwood is off to a hot start this season, and if his strong play continues, Vancouver will have a difficult choice to make this offseason.
Through 14 games, he has nine goals, nine points and is tied for the league leader in hits with 63.
Sherwood is in the last season of his two-year, $3 million contract and is set to hit free agency at the end of the season.
According to NHL insider David Pagnotta, it unlikely Sherwood earns less than $4 million on his next contract, whether it's with Vancouver or elsewhere.
Sherwood, 30, has only accumulated 40 points or more once in his career but is quick and hits hard. He's a useful asset, but whether Vancouver will be willing to up his annual average value by over $3 million, is unknown.
