With his 274th hit of the season, Sherwood set the Canucks record for hits in a season. The previous record was held by Luke Schenn, who recorded 273 hits in 2021-22.

Sherwood's record-setting hit came at the 8:13 mark of the first period. The historic hit was thrown against Justin Holl of the Detroit Red Wings. Sherwood ranks 32nd all-time in franchise history and has already surpassed his hit total from last season.
Up next for Sherwood will be the all-time single-season record. Nashville Predators defenceman Jeremy Lauzon currently holds the record with 383 hits. Sherwood needs 109 hits to tie the record, with his 110th setting the new NHL record.
Sherwood has been a hitting machine all season. He is averaging 5.7 hits per game and is on pace for 445 hits. Only 15 players in franchise history have over 445 hits, including Bo Horvat, Dakota Joshua and Tyler Myers.
