Looking at the women of the Canucks for National Girls and Women in Sports Day.
February 5, 2025, is National Girls and Women in Sports Day. The Vancouver Canucks have plenty of game changers in their organization, ranging from the first female assistant general manager in franchise history, to a gold and silver Olympic medal winner. Let’s take a look at some of the women in the Canucks organization.
Latest From THN's Vancouver Canucks Site:
Cammi Granato
One of the team’s three assistant general managers, Cammi Granato has been a member of the Canucks organization since 2022, after spending time with the Seattle Kraken as a scout. As a player, she is best known for her gold-medal efforts as captain of the 1998 U.S. women’s Olympic team, as well as being one of the first women inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame. Her 186 goals and 157 assists as a member of the U.S. women’s team are the most of any player in history. In January of 2023, she published her first children’s book, I Can Play Too, which encourages young girls to pursue their hockey dreams.
Émilie Castonguay
The first female assistant GM in franchise history, Émilie Castonguay was a player agent with Momentum Hockey before joining the Canucks in January 2022. Being an agent since 2016, and the first female NHLPA certified in Canada to do so, she represented a crop of men and women alike such as ex-Canuck Antoine Roussel and Canadian icon Marie-Philip Poulin. As a player, Castonguay spent four years playing NCAA hockey at Niagara University, where she put up 23 points in 121 games.
Lindsey Horsting
Lindsey Horsting is the Canucks’ editorial writer, working as a part of the media trident of herself, Chris Faber, and Olivia McDonald to produce team-based content for the fanbase. She has been with the team since 2023. Prior to joining the Canucks, she was a sideline reporter for the Vancouver Bandits of the CEBL.
Olivia McDonald
McDonald, the team’s rinkside reporter, joined the Canucks this year after spending time with the Calgary Flames organization. She interned with the Canucks from 2019 to 2021, before heading to Calgary to work with the Wranglers and Roughnecks. You can catch her on the Canucks’ social channels as well as on the jumbotron during the team’s home games.
