Quinn Hughes missed Sunday's game against the New Jersey Devils with an injury.
There is some injury concern currently surrounding the Vancouver Canucks. Despite participating in warmups on Sunday, Quinn Hughes missed the game against the Detroit Red Wings, which the Canucks later fell 3-2 in overtime. Post-game, Head Coach Rick Tocchet said, "He wanted to gut it out, but, you know, not the smartest play to play. He wants to play every game, so, 48 hours, we will see how he is."

An injury to Hughes is not only a massive loss for Vancouver but also for Team USA. In ten days, Team USA kicks off their 4 Nations Face-Off schedule when they battle Kevin Lankinen and Team Finland. The reigning Norris Trophy winner is projected to play a significant role for his home country both at even strength and on the power play.
On Monday, Hughes' agent, J.P. Barry, made an appearance on the TV show "Donnie and Dhali." Barry works for CAA, which is also the agency for Elias Pettersson and Tyler Myers. During his hit, Barry discussed Hughes' current injury and put USA hockey fans, as well as Canucks fans at ease.
"Just bumps and bruises," said Barry when asked about Hughes' injury. "He's working through it, but it's nothing serious. It's just the riggers of a hard season, and he just wants to play. He plays a lot of minutes, and he's a target for people, so he's going to have to play through those things. The odd day, there will be a rest like there was here, but it will help him, and he'll be right back."
As for his participation at the 4 Nations Face-Off, Barry said, "...He just wants to be ready, and he wants to play at that level. It's important to him, and it's important to the game, and I don't think it is going to affect the team at all."
Barry also spoke on Hughes' future with the Canucks. Hughes has two more years left on his contract and will become an unrestricted free agent in 2027. While rumours have already started to fly on social media that Hughes is heading for the New Jersey Devils to join his brothers, Barry put those rumours to rest, at least for now.
"I think people should settle down. It's a long way away, and just let him play. He loves being a Canuck. He's been given every role, and he's happy, so let's just get this team going strong, and that will take care of itself."
After an off day on Monday, Vancouver returns to the ice on Tuesday when they take on the Colorado Avalanche. If Hughes is healthy enough to play, it will give Canucks fans their first glimpse of what this team could look like after the 2025 trade deadline. Game time is set for 7:00 pm PT from Rogers Arena.
