The Vancouver Canucks have inked defenseman Sawyer Mynio to a three-year entry level contract.

A Kamloops, BC native, Mynio was the Canucks third round pick (89th overall) in June's draft in Nashville. The 6'1 180-pound left-shot blueliner participated at Young Stars in Penticton last week and was among 51 skaters on the ice at Canucks main camp in Victoria.

“Sawyer has gained some valuable experience since we drafted him, taking part in our summer development camp, Young Stars and our Training Camp in Victoria.” Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin said in a team-issued statement. “We have liked the way he has looked on the ice and our staff is looking forward to helping him improve his game and skillset in the years to come.”

Mynio has spent the past two seasons with the Seattle Thunderbirds in the Western Hockey League. Last season he had five goals and 31 points in 68 regular season games. His T-Birds advanced to the Memorial Cup Final in his hometown.

In total, Mynio has logged 115 WHL regular season games and 40 more in the playoffs.
