Quinn Hughes will miss his second straight game with an injury.

The Vancouver Canucks will be without their captain on Tuesday when they take on the Colorado Avalanche. After the morning skate, Head Coach Rick Tocchet confirmed that Quinn Hughes would be out of the lineup for the second straight game. Hughes missed Sunday's game against the Detroit Red Wings despite participating in warmups.

"He's not gonna play tonight," said Tocchet. Just 24 hours. You take it day by day with him or with anybody. So we'll see. You know, I've seen guys; things linger. I've seen some guys after 24 hours, things help. So we'll see how it goes."

With Hughes missing, the Canucks are projected to use the same defence pairs as they did against Detroit. These pairings would be Derek Forbort with Filip Hronek, Marcus Pettersson with Tyler Myer and Elias Pettersson with Noah Juulsen. According to Tocchet, there is a chance that Carson Soucy could play, but based on morning skate line rushes, it looks like Soucy will be a scratch for the second straight game. Tocchet also confirmed that Thatcher Demko will be making his 15th start of the season against Colorado.

Vancouver continues their brief homestand on Tuesday against the Avalanche. This will be the second of three matchups between these two teams, with the Canucks picking up a 3-1 win back in December. Game time is set for 7:00 pm PT.
