While it was already known that Conor Garland was going, he will now be joined by Drew O'Connor, who was named to the team on Thursday. O'Connor was one of a handful of players to play more than 82 games in 2024-25, finishing the season with ten goals and 25 points in 84 games. That year, the Americans fell in the Bronze Medal game to Latvia, thanks to a stellar performance by current Abbotsford Canucks goaltender Artūrs Šilovs. It has been a while since Team USA left this tournament with a Gold Medal. In fact, the last time the Americans won was in 1960, when the Winter Olympics served as the tournament. Overall, Team USA has won 20 medals at the World Championship, with their last being a Bronze in 2021. Garland, O'Connor and Team USA kick off their tournament on May 9 against Denmark at 11:20 am PT.
