Elias Pettersson has entered the Vancouver Canucks record books. With 91 blocked shots, the 27-year-old has set the franchise record for most blocked shots by a forward in a single season. The original team record was set in 2014-15, when Nick Bonino blocked 90 shots in 75 games. It is important to note that the NHL only started recording blocked shots during the 2005-06 season. The current record for blocked shots during a career by a Canucks forward is held Ryan Kesler, who blocked 525 in 655 games. Pettersson ranks second all-time in franchise history with 468 in 523 games. Up next for Pettersson will be the all-time NHL single-season record for blocked shots by a forward. That record is currently held by Alex Tuch, who blocked 113 last season. Since the stat started being recorded in 2005-06, a forward has recorded at least 100 blocked shots only 10 times.
