For many former Vancouver Canucks, being traded means a change of scenery and new opportunities. As a result, these players have been able to find success in a new environment alongside new players. Some have even set franchise records with their new teams. Conor Garland was traded from the Canucks to the Columbus Blue Jackets one week ago to the day, with the forward netting Vancouver a second (2028) and third-round pick (2026) in return. Already, the scrappy forward has made his mark on the Blue Jackets organization. In his first three games with Columbus, Garland has scored four goals. This makes him the first player in franchise history to accomplish this feat. Moreover, this four-goal effort came during back-to-back games on March 9 and 10 against the Los Angeles Kings and Tampa Bay Lightning respectively. Prior to the trade, Garland’s last goal for the Canucks had been scored on December 16 against the New York Rangers. He went goalless in his final 23 games with Vancouver and recorded his last point on February 28 against the Seattle Kraken. Combining his point totals with Vancouver and Columbus, Garland is now up to 11 goals and 19 assists in 53 games played this season. This puts him in eighth place on the Blue Jackets in overall points on the season with 30. Vancouver and Columbus have alrtready concluded their matchups for the 2025–26 season, meaning Garland will have to wait until next year to face his former team for the first time.
