Welcome back to another Vancouver Canucks [https://thehockeynews.com/nhl/vancouver-canucks] 2025–26 season series preview. In this article series, The Hockey News - Canucks site previews Vancouver’s team series matchups for the season in chronological order. Last time, we looked at what the Canucks will face in the Pittsburgh Penguins [https://thehockeynews.com/nhl/pittsburgh-penguins/]. Today, let’s preview their season matchups against the Nashville Predators [https://thehockeynews.com/nhl/nashville-predators/]. 2024–25 SEASON STATS Team Stats: Record: 30–44–8 Points: 68 points Standings placement: 7th in Central Division PP%: 21.9% (18th) PK%: 81.5% (7th) Goals: Filip Forsberg (31) Steven Stamkos (27) Ryan O’Reilly / Jonathan Marchessault (21) Michael Bunting (19) Erik Haula (11) Assists: Filip Forsberg (45) Jonathan Marchessault (35) Ryan O’Reilly (32) Roman Josi (29) Steven Stamkos (26) Points: Filip Forsberg (76) Jonathan Marchessault (56) Steven Stamkos / Ryan O’Reilly (53) Roman Josi / Michael Bunting (38) Brady Skjei (33) Goaltenders: Juuse Saros Record: 20–31–6 GAA: 2.98 SV%: .896 SO: 4 Points: 1A Justus Annunen Record: 15–15–1 GAA: 3.18 SV%: .883 SO: N/A Points: N/A 2025 FREE AGENCY RUNDOWN Nashville made big splashes in last year’s free agency period, making them playoff favourites early into the 2024–25 season. However, even with these additions, the Predators failed to make the playoffs. With players like O’Reilly, Skjei, Marchessault, and Stamkos on their books, the Predators approached the 2025 off-season more casually, signing defenceman Nicklaus Perbix and letting go of Jakub Vrana. 2025–26 SEASON SERIES PREVIEW Expectations for the Predators are different for 2025–26, as the team is unlikely to contend the way they may want to. Even so, they still have a handful of big-name players who could make an impact on the team’s position in the standings if they play their cards right. Along with this, they have one of the NHL’s best goaltenders in Saros, who can easily help his team to a playoff spot if he’s playing at his peak. It’ll take a collaborative effort from the Predators to make an impact in the standings, but if they can pile their efforts together, they could cause some upsets in their conference. Vancouver’s first game against Nashville in 2024–25 takes place on October 23, with this being the final game of a five-game road trip for the Canucks at the start of the season. This could be one of those games that ends in an unexpected loss for Vancouver, as before this, they’ll play a back-to-back and two other games within the span of eight days. Their next matchup takes place at the start of November, while their final game against one-another this season will be on March 12.
