It’s official — Conor Garland and the Vancouver Canucks [https://thehockeynews.com/nhl/vancouver-canucks] have agreed on a contract extension. The deal, which lasts for six years and will pay Garland an average of $6M per year, will keep Garland under contract with the team until the end of the 2032 season. Had the two sides not agreed on an extension, Garland would have become a free agent at the end of the 2025–26 season. Garland was drafted 123rd overall by the Arizona Coyotes in 2015 and signed his entry-level contract the same winter. After a few seasons spent with the Tucson Roadrunners, Garland made his NHL debut on December 8, 2018 against the San Jose Sharks. After back-to-back 39-point seasons, Garland was traded to the Canucks alongside Oliver Ekman-Larsson. Almost immediately after, he signed a five-year, $4.95M AAV deal with the Canucks. In his first year with Vancouver, the 2021–22 season, Garland scored a career-high 52 points in 77 games played. Since joining the Canucks, he has produced at a near 20-goal and 50-point pace every season. In 2024–25, he tied Brock Boeser for second in points on the team with 50. As well as a consistent offensive presence, Garland has also developed into one of the team’s emotional leaders.
