The Washington Capitals have announced that forward Max Pacioretty will not return to Saturday's game against the Dallas Stars due to a lower-body injury.
Pacioretty played 10:25 minutes against Dallas and was last on the ice just 2:17 minutes into the third period when he fired a shot that was blocked by Jani Hakanpaa.
It is unclear what the exact nature of the injury is or the severity of the injury at this time. Per the team, though, Pacioretty's injury is not related to his Achilles, which he tore twice in a span of five months and recently returned from following a year of recovery.
Still, not having Pacioretty hurts as the Capitals look to rally back from a 4-2 deficit. He has seven points in his last nine games and has been an X-Factor on the top-6 since returning to the lineup.
