Brandon Duhaime pushed Nick Suzuki into the Capitals netminder.
WASHINGTON — The Washington Capitals saw Charlie Lindgren leave Friday's tilt against the Montreal Canadiens early in the second period after being hit in the head.
Lindgren was defending against a Montreal power play when Brandon Duhaime pushed Nick Suzuki into the crease. Suzuki went into Lindgren elbow and shoulder first, striking the netminder in the head and sending him hard to the ice.
The 31-year-old netminder was shaken up but remained in the crease until the media timeout when he was relieved by Logan Thompson.
Lindgren will not return, per the team, as he deals with what's being called an upper-body injury.
It's a tough break for the former Canadien, who stopped all six shots he faced, including two big saves in the opening frame to preserve the 1-0 lead.
