Sammi Silber - The Hockey News - Capitals Injury Updates: Oshie Leaves D.C. For Treatment In Minnesota, Latest On Lindgren & Milano, Sandin Ill

ARLINGTON, V.A. — The Washington Capitals got a plethora of injury updates on Friday prior to their game against the Carolina Hurricanes, with the biggest being T.J. Oshie's departure to return to his home state of Minnesota for treatment.

Oshie is away from the team as he goes back home to address an upper-body injury that has plagued him since mid-December, head coach Spencer Carbery announced. He had started to skate with the team again and take contact following his injury, but has since departed D.C. It is unclear when he will return, as his previous update had him listed as day-to-day. He remains on the injured reserve.

In more positive news, fellow Minnesota native Charlie Lindgren is making progress and joined Washington for its morning skate on Friday, while staying on long after for some individual work. He is eligible to come off of the injured reserve for Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Kings.

Sonny Milano also joined his teammates for practice, skating in a non-contact jersey as he continues to work his way back from an upper-body injury suffered early in December. He has not played since Dec. 9, when he was bumped by Jacob Trouba in a big 4-0 win over the New York Rangers.

Despite his progress, Milano is still not close to making a return and remains week-to-week.

Ramsus Sandin did not skate on Friday, as he is dealing with an illness. He will not play against the Hurricanes but could be back on Sunday. Joel Edmundson will draw back into the lineup after missing Wednesday's game due to maintenance.
