Sergei Belski - USA TODAY Sports - Pacioretty Has Officially Joined Capitals, Takes Kids To Skate At Practice Facility As Recovery Continues

ARLINGTON, V.A. — Max Pacioretty has officially joined the Washington Capitals, and on Wednesday, his kids also got to take MedStar Capitals Iceplex for a test drive.

Pacioretty is in town and watched from the bleachers as his kids took the ice and got some practice in. He is a father of five, including four sons and one daughter.

The 34-year-old's locker stall is also set up at the practice facility, and he is continuing his rehabilitation with the Capitals after signing a one-year, $2 million deal to open the month of July.

Pacioretty is still recovering from a torn Achilles after suffering back-to-back tears to the same tendon within a span of five months. He was limited to just three games all last season due to the ailment, managing three goals before going down again.

The 6-foot-2 forward said that he expects to be ready soon after the season starts, and while he knows why he suffered the same injury twice in a row, he is not yet comfortable sharing the details behind it.

"Well, it's tough to talk about, I mean, we know that information. It's tough for me to personally talk about it... One thing I do want to focus on is moving forward and making sure it doesn't happen again," Pacioretty said in July. "So to be positive and to think about the future,` I kind of want to focus on that, respectfully."

Washington expects Pacioretty to be a key contributor when fully healthy, as he's expected to add scoring on the top-6 while also being an X-factor on the power play.

And for Pacioretty, he's ready to live up to that role — and more.

"I'm really happy, and I feel very blessed that I was able to come to this conclusion... To be able to come to a team that I feel can have a very good year and that I can contribute and personally show that I'm capable of playing this game at the level I once was," Pacioretty said. "For me, I feel blessed that I have this opportunity."
