The Capitals center said that surgery was a possibility after getting banged up in the regular season.
WASHINGTON -- Washington Capitals forward Nic Dowd has undergone core surgery, general manager Brian MacLellan said on Thursday.
MacLellan told reporters on the side after Carbery's press conference that Dowd had the procedure this summer to address an issue he was dealing with toward the end of the regular season. He will be ready for the start of training camp.
Dowd did not play the final three games of the regular season due to an injury and also missed significant time earlier in the year with an upper-body injury. He finished with a career-high 13 goals and 25 points in 65 games.
The 33-year-old had mentioned that surgery would be a possibility after dealing with some injuries to close out the 2022-23 campaign, where the Capitals missed out on the postseason for the first time in nine years.
