ARLINGTON, V.A. — The Washington Capitals got to hit reset with their first full practice in a bit, and they may see a Stanley Cup Playoff debut in Game 3.
Ivan Miroshnichenko was practicing on the fourth line with Nic Dowd and Beck Malenstyn, taking Nicolas Aube-Kubel's spot. Aube-Kubel stayed on the ice for extra work, indicating that he could draw out as the healthy scratch on Friday.
Sonny Milano did not skate as he took a maintenance day, so Mike Sgarbossa was the placeholder for him on the third line.
Washington is still waiting on the status of two key blueliners, though, as Nick Jensen and Rasmus Sandin remained in non-contact jerseys. Vincent Iorio did not skate as he deals with a day-to-day upper-body injury.
Both Jensen and Sandin skated on an extra pairing as they continue to recover.
Here were the lines at practice:
Alex Ovechkin-Connor McMichael-T.J. Oshie
Aliaksei Protas-Dylan Strome-Tom Wilson
Max Pacioretty-Hendrix Lapierre-Mike Sgarbossa
Beck Malenstyn-Nic Dowd-Ivan Miroshnicheno
Martin Fehervary-John Carlson
Alex Alexeyev-Dylan McIlrath
Lucas Johansen-Trevor van Riemsdyk
Sandin has been out since April 7 against the Ottawa Senators, when he left the game after being hit up high by Parker Kelly. Days later, on April 13 against the Tampa Bay Lightning, Jensen was pushed into the boards by Michael Eyssimont and had to be stretchered off the ice.
Iorio was also hurt on a hit after going hard into the boards following a shove from Alexis Lafreniere.
The Capitals host the Rangers in Game 3 of the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs on Friday at 7 p.m. Washington trails the series 2-0.
