After a disappointing 5-1 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday, the Washington Capitals got back to work and shook things off quickly with another busy practice on Friday.
Alex Ovechkin, T.J. Oshie and John Carlson, who will play his 1,000th NHL game on Saturday against the Boston Bruins, didn't skate and got the day off. They've been skating heavy minutes and need to incorporate some rest as the playoff push continues.
Carlson did come out on the ice after practice, though, to skate with his and Max Pacioretty's kids.
Sonny Milano, meanwhile, was a full participant in practice. Per head coach Spencer Carbery, the team will see how he's feeling before making a decision on his status for Saturday.
For Carbery, he hopes that Friday's practice can help the team move forward relatively quickly and respond strong against Boston as it looks to gain more traction in the standings.
"We talked for a little bit and then we wipe the slate and move on and focus on today," Carbery said. "Not even really getting to Boston yet, but utilizing today to put ourselves in the best position possible to have success," Carbery said. "We had to work on some things and talk about some things tonight. We don't have to, we talked about last night and the disappointment of what went on and why it went on and then we gotta move on."
Washington is back in action against the Bruins at 7 p.m. ET at Capital One Arena, The Capitals remain one point behind the Philadelphia Flyers for third in the Metropolitan Division.
