The Capitals got back to work after a day off on Sunday.

ARLINGTON, V.A. — After a day off to reset after a busy weekend back-to-back, the Washington Capitals got back to work with a busy practice on Tuesday, and they got some positive news to boot.

Matt Roy, who has missed the last 10 games with a lower-body injury suffered in the season opener, was a full-go at practice. He upgraded to a contact jersey and skated on the second pairing with Rasmus Sandin.

Per head coach Spencer Carbery, Roy is "definitely a possibility" to return to the lineup on Wednesday against the Nashville Predators.

"All things trending towards potentially playing tomorrow," he added.

It would be Roy's second appearance for the Capitals since signing a six-year contract this summer.

While the team will be getting Roy back, the blue line isn't completely back at full strength, as Jakob Chychrun's timeline will be a bit longer. Chychrun, who suffered an upper-body injury last Tuesday against the New York Rangers, was on the ice for skills work ahead of practice but did not stay on to skate with the team.

Per Carbery, he's still working his way back but isn't quite ready to return yet.

As Chychrun continues to progress, Alex Alexeyev remains in the mix, skating with Trevor van Riemsdyk on the third pairing. Dylan McIlrath, meanwhile, drew out and was on an extra pairing with call-up Vincent Iorio.

Washington also used the practice to break in its black, copper and blue "Screamin' Eagle" gear, while working on skills and the power play.

The forward lines remained intact, with Jakub Vrana and Sonny Milano interchanging on the third trio and Mike Sgarbossa working as the extra center.

Here were the combinations at practice:
