The Capitals are putting Dylan Strome back on the top line for Saturday's tilt with the Golden Knights.

As the Washington Capitals look to spark Alex Ovechkin and keep the winning streak going against the Vegas Golden Knights, head coach Spencer Carbery is making a notable change up front, putting an end to the Ovechkin-Evgeny Kuznetsov pairing on the top line.
Dylan Strome is back in the top-line spot and is expected to center Alex Ovechkin and Tom Wilson on Saturday against the Vegas Golden Knights, while Kuznetsov is expected to take his place.
For Carbery, it's a move that the team needed to make given continued struggles to get production on the top-6.
"We're looking at a different look up front... the line, just overall, we’ve been having some success, but it hasn’t fared well analytically at all," Carbery told reporters in Las Vegas on Saturday. "So we’ve got to to look to make some adjustments and change some things up, even though the old adage from a coach is you keep it the same, or a lot fo coaches keep it the same [if] you win."
Kuznetsov and Ovechkin are no strangers to one another and have found great chemistry in the past, but of late, the two of them can't seem to get much going. Ovechkin also continues to struggle in the goal-scoring department and has just five goals through 20 games so far, while his ice time has also plummeted of late.
At 5-on-5, Kuznetsov, Ovechkin and Wilson have a 40.4 Corsi-for percentage, and their expected goals for is at just 33.61 percent. Without Kuznetsov, Ovechkin and Wilson have a 58.76 CF% and 57.09 xGF%.
Though the team has won two straight games while keeping that line together, Carbery said that it's important to separate things to get the rest of the offense going.
"That's sort of forward thinking [to keep them together]," Carbery added. "In order for us to play better and sustain pressure, especially against a team like the Golden Knights, we’re going to need production from all four lines. Being able to do that, we just feel like we need a bit of a different look.”
Puck drop between the Capitals and Golden Knights is at 10 p.m. ET.
