ARLINGTON, V.A. — The Washington Capitals got another depth forward back in the organization, as they re-claimed Matthew Phillips from the Pittsburgh Penguins after losing him to waivers nearly a month ago and assigned him to the AHL's Hershey Bears.
The move adds even more depth to the top-ranked team in the minors, as Evgeny Kuznetsov also reported to the club on Tuesday after clearing waivers on Sunday.
Phillips appeared in three games with the Penguins during his tenure in Pittsburgh. He played in 27 games with Washington this season, picking up a goal and four assists.
